CNC machined housings for the Wind Sensors

IMG_1532IMG_1519The shipment of the CNC machined parts for the wind-speed and direction sensors have arrived. Everything fits nicely, even the critical dimensions for the bearings where just right. Only one minor mistake, but I can not blame anybody else but me for it, and a quick cut on the lathe  took care of the snafu right away.

The two parts are held together and sealed by a run of black Gorilla tape all around.  The assembled unit then can be placed onto a 3/4″ PVC pipe and held in place with a set screw if required,  or with an interference fit by wrapping the pipe end with a layer or two of Teflon tape before pushing it on.  You might want to opt for the set screw if a tornado comes through , just in case.
